Rik Kutsch Lojenga


Executive Director

Rik Kutsch Lojenga is the Executive Director of the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) since its creation in 2008. He is charged to reach out to private sector in both developing and developed countries to promote sourcing with respect of biodiversity. Prior, Mr. Kutsch Lojenga worked for over a decade with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), where he was involved in the creation of the BioTrade Initiative and helped to conceptualize the idea of UEBT. Rik Kutsch Lojenga grew up in the Netherlands, where he earned a Master’s degree in business and environmental economics.

Maria Julia Oliva

Maria Julia OLIVA

Senior Coordinator for Policy and Technical Support

Maria Julia Oliva is Senior Coordinator for Policy and Technical Support at the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) since 2009. In this capacity, she provides training, advice and technical support for UEBT members and partners on issues such as equitable trade practices and access and benefit sharing. Julia has held several positions in international organizations and published widely on the interface between sustainability, trade and intellectual property. She is a member of the IUCN Commission on Environmental Law and the Board of Directors of IP-Watch, an independent reporting service on intellectual property issues. She has a law degree from the University of Mendoza and a Masters of Laws (LL.M) in environmental law, cum laude, from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College.

Cristiane de Moraes

Cristiane de MORAES

Senior Coordinator Latin America

Cristiane de Moraes is Senior Coordinator Latin America for UEBT since 2008. During her professional career, which has spanned 20 years, she has served in the area of product development and business administration with large companies such as Rhodia, Unilever and Natura. Cristiane is specialist in sustainable supply chain. She graduated with a degree in environmental technology by Unicamp and furthered her studies, obtaining a Masters degree in business administration, logistics and sustainable business at USP and FGV respectively. As a representative of UEBT Cristiane, is coordinator of the technical team in Brazil and serves members as well as regional projects.

Rina Razanakolona


UEBT representative Madagascar

Rina Razanakolona is the UEBT representative in Madagascar. Prior, she worked for 4 years as consultant (for GIZ, UEBT, Label CBD on issues related to value chain development, ABS, bio-cultural community protocols, certification), and 5 years at the NGO L’Homme et L’Environnement (as Certification Officer, Fair Trade Officer Research and Development Officer, Conservation Project Coordinator).
Rina Razanakolona holds an engineer's Degree in Agronomy from the Higher School of Agronomic Sciences, University of Antananarivo, Madagascar where she grew up. She also holds a master in Food Sciences and Technologies from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Gembloux and Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium.

Bertjan Bouman

Bertjan BOUMAN

Finance Manager

Bertjan Bouman is Finance Manager at the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) since March 2012. He is responsible for the finance & administration of the organisation. Bertjan has a background in Community Development. He grew up in the Netherlands where he earned a Masters degree in Development Studies at Wageningen University. After his studies Bertjan worked some years in Nepal advising and managing community health & development projects. After his return to the Netherlands he started studying finance focussing on improved synergy between financial reporting and project management.

Rodrigo de Prospero

Rodrigo de PROSPERO

Standards and Membership Officer

Rodrigo de Próspero is Standards and Membership Officer in Latin America since March 2012. He is a Forestry Engineer in charge of technical and membership issues for Latin American UEBT members. Previously, Rodrigo was sustainable coordinator at Natura Cosmetics in Brazil. He also worked at Secretariat for the Environment of Sao Paulo (Brazil), Organic Auditor for Ecocert Brazil, and Independent Consultant.

Andres Venegas


Standard and Verification Expert

Andres Venegas is Standard and Verification Expert since February 2015. He is a Forestry Engineer (Universidad de Chile), diploma in Integrated Management Systems of Quality. He has over 14 years experience in forestry, working as Technical Coordinator of ‘Native Forest Network’, Executive Director of FSC Chile, National Secretary of the National Firewood Certification System and worked on ‘Advisory Forest management’ in CONAF (Chile’s National Forest Service). He also worked as an auditor for FSC and as independent consultant, participated in projects concerning Dendro-energy, Firewood Certification and Climate Change.
