The Biodiversity and Forests Secretary for the Ministry of Environment of Brazil, Mr. Bráulio Dias, gave a statement to UEBT which was presented during the launch of the 2011 Biodiversity Barometer in Sao Paulo held in São Paulo on June 2.
Mr Braulio Dias underlined the importance of the recent approval of the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing as well as the CBD’s Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011 – 2020.
He highlighted the important role Brazil would play in the achievement of these goals. Mr Braulio Dias also reference a recent report from the Brazilian government with an updated look at Brazilian biodiversity, the main pressures and the main initiatives put in place to protect it.
