Declining honeybee populations highlight the importance of sustainably sourcing biodiversity ingredients
Falling honeybee populations in Britain are threatening the availability of beeswax, according to a recent report by The Co-operative Group. The increasingly limited supply of beeswax has real and worrying implications for the cosmetics industry, which uses the ingredient in thousands of beauty products, such as thickeners and stiffing agents. In this latest crisis, the tangible consequences of failing to implement sustainable measures to protect biodiversity are clear. That is why, together with private industry, the Union for Ethical BioTrade is working to take pro-active measures and encourage the ethical sourcing of ingredients in order to help conserve biodiversity.
