UEBT announces agenda of the 2012 Beauty of Sourcing with Respect Conference

The Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) announces the agenda of its annual Beauty of ‘Sourcing with Respect’ Conference held on 12 April 2012 in Paris. The theme this year is ‘The Beauty industry and biodiversity in emerging markets’. ‘Emerging markets like Brazil are not only important in economic terms, they are also becoming increasingly important in influencing sustainability trends’ says Rik Kutsch Lojenga, Executive Director of UEBT.

This international conference will open with a keynote address by Maria Cecilia Wey De Brito, former Secretary of State of the Brazilian Ministry of Environment and currently Director of WWF Brazil. Twenty years after the Rio Earth Summit (1992), world leaders will gather in Rio de Janeiro in June 2012 for Rio+20 to forge a greening of the world economy. Ms De Brito will look at the significance for industry of this summit and other international gatherings later in 2012.
