UEBT publishes note on ABS project in Africa, including lessons learned and training material
This note summarizes the outcomes of a joint project on access and benefit sharing (ABS), carried out by the Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT), PhytoTrade Africa, GIZ and the ABS Capacity Development Initiative. Through this two-year project, these organizations worked together to provide companies working with natural ingredients with the information and tools to advance equitable benefit sharing practices, especially in Africa. Activities were taken forth in close collaboration with UEBT and PhytoTrade Africa members working in Southern Africa, as well as the relevant producers, communities, and local and national authorities. This note outlines some of the experiences gathered through project activities, as well as the tools and training material that were developed.
